Photoshop tutorial

Today me and my group began to plan a layout on paper of what our front cover will look like. Together we had to come up with a masthead that would be consistent in all of our magazines. We also decided to change the 'free gift' to 5 pop songs instead of 10. This is because, as we are a weekly magazine, this would be quite costly and probably cost more to make than the magazine itself. As well as this, the target age group are very young so would most likely be satisfied with that.

After the paper plan, we each had to choose the photo that we want to use as the main image. I decided not to go ahead with my orginial 'car design' because the photos did not look very convincing and I prefered the close-ups as they are more typically seen on a magazine front page. So, I chose the medium close-up of me and Ana. Once chosen, we then had a tutorial on how to use basic elements in adobe photoshop. This included learning how to change the colour of the background and use gradient, add text, change the type of font, use different layers, how to transpose pictures and use the crop tool.

When the tutorial had finished, we began working on our own photos. I firstly cropped my picture then began using the blemish fixer tool to get rid of freckles and spot to give an airbrushed look. I used the magic wand to cut around the image and place it onto a new plain white document. I then used the paint brush in white to go around the 'sharp' edges to create a smooth and soft effect.
